I'd like to draw the whole Allosauroidea superfamily like I drew Troodontidae once.
I'm not that good at large theropods (yet), so I did some sketches to get the gist of their general look.

Everything was done in ArtRage. I used a lot of references, mainly photos of skeletons.

sea dragon & iguana

I painted this deep sea dragon for a contest held here - Elite-Dragon-Artists group @DeviantArt. The dragon was based on the viperfish. I wanted to paint this kind of animal for a long time and tried several times, but somehow it was never good enough.

The second picture was commissioned by v-e-r-a from dA. Painting her iguana character was a lot of fun, even though I had many problems with choosing colours.

My old Graphire tablet died yesterday. It's 5 years old so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised but still... I'll only be able to buy a new one in December. I'd like to buy a Wacom Intuos at last^_^

Anyway, here are some reconstructions of Polish Triassic fauna I did a year ago for the Focus magazine:

(The animals here are not proportional.)

There were 9 images in total and I had only 4 day to paint all of them... That was a nightmare, but I managed to do it:)

Wow, I can't believe I've been so lazy the whole summer. Or maybe it's still my stupid crisis, looks like it hasn't stopped for about... a year? And there I thought it was over in June. Whatever.

I'm uploading 2 new pictures, one finished and one WIP (another one that's most probably never going to be finished *cough*).

The background was referenced. I still need to work more with various colour palettes and some more interesting lighting.

There's not much left, but I can't find that book where the painting was:[ (the pics you can find on the Internet seem to have "mutated" colours... too greenish or reddish).

I decided to colour one of the sketches posted earlier... I wanted to paint something more complex this time and I quite enjoyed it in the beginning, but right now I'm totally stuck. There's something wrong with this picture, but I can't put my finger on it.

A little exercise in painting landscapes aaand stuff with strong lighting. I wanted to draw oviraptors there at first, but mononykus fits somehow better.

I think I like both versions equally:) I still have to practice drawing mammals more. The adult smilodon anatomy seems kinda off to me. I referenced the pose from a photo of a tiger, but it wasn't that much help after all. I'll try better next time!

I was commissioned by a popular science magazine "Focus" to draw 9 creatures, whose remains were found in Poland. It's for their special edition about dinosaurs (available only in Poland).

I totally suck at drawing amphibians, but looks like I pulled it off :P

I drew a new version of Oviraptor philoceratops - fluffier and with shorter tail. I like it way more than the older one... The other dino is Nemegtomaia.

I'm also working on another Citipati picture, this time involving evil velociraptors:]

The second picture shown here is reaaally old, I drew it when I didn't have a tablet, 6 or 7 years ago. Lines were drawn with pen, colors added in Photoshop (with mouse). I was SO proud of this picture back then. Maybe someday I'll paint it again, but this time using tablet.

It's a short step-by-step thing for Citipati with chicks. It's a pretty easy method, I also used it for Archaeopteryx :)

Re-drawing the pencil sketch is the most time-consuming stage, the picture's size has to be really large and the brush's size should be about 5-7.

Oviraptorids

In October 2008 I planned to draw whole Oviraptoridae family, just like I did with Troodontidae (link). Unfortunately, I managed to draw only 4 species, start one and then I got bored. I've been thinking about reactivating it for some time already, but I think I should first develop some new drawing method (less exhausting than the old one;)).

I've been thinking about an art blog for some time and I've got it at last;)
